She has been seen on Broadway in: A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine - Directed by Tommy Tune & Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up. National Tours include: Hello, Dolly! - 20th Anniversary Tour with Carol Channing; The King & I - with Rudolf Nureyev; Evita directed by Harold Prince; and A Partridge in a Pear Tree with James Mason. Regional Theatre credits include: Guys &Dolls with Milton Berle; Oliver! directed by Tony and Oscar winner, Onna White, and many others. Locally she has been seen as: “Marge” in The Bridges of Madison County (Eccles Regent Street Theatre); “Mother Superior” in Sister Act (Hale Center Theatre-WV) and “Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn” in The Music Man (Sundance).
She has written for nearly every film and video venue in the business: feature film, short film, television (long and short form), corporate video, documentary, as well as musicals and straight plays for the legitimate theatre, and is currently a free-lance writer/director.
She spent numerous years as a script consultant, first with the Pasadena Playhouse, where she reviewed new and established scripts which were under consideration and then with Entertainment Business Group, an entertainment consulting company and she is well versed with the campaign elements that make a film “commercially viable.”
Ms. Hansen holds an MFA in screenwriting from the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies, has won the prestigious Writers Guild of America Award, an EMMY nomination, and was a finalist for the Humanitas Prize for excellence in children’s television programing. In addition she has a Telly award and two Crystal Awards for excellence in corporate video writing. She is currently the lead writer for the LDS Church’s new Book of Mormon Video Series as well as the Executive Director of Utah Lyric Opera.
Her film directing credits include: A Light in the Woods & The Sisters of Bethany, both of which she also wrote. Her opera directing credits include: Carmen for the Pine Mountain Music Festival; Rigoletto, Il Barbiere di Siviglia; La Boheme; La Traviata; Madama Butterfly all for Utah Lyric Opera as well as two new shows she wrote, compiled and directed: Singing the Stories of Christmas and Singing the Stories of America . In addition she directed Big River for the Sundance Summer Theatre and Enchanted April: a musical at the Covey Center for the Arts.
